I've had one of these poppers for years and always loved it. After at least 10 years of use the plastic in the bottom started flaking off so I decided it was time for a replacement & tossed it. I bought it yesterday at a local big box store so I could make sure I got one with out any cracks that some people have complained about. When I picked it up off the shelf I thought it felt lighter than the old one, but thought maybe I was imagining things. Tonight I used the new one for the first time I could see light through the plastic while the microwave was running. The old one didn't do that so that answers why it felt lighter than my old one. It does seem to pop as well as the old one so far. Yes there are some unpopped kernels but no more than in a bag of microwave popcorn. Yes the bottom gets hot but I actually like that, keeps the popcorn warm longer. I just put a folded tea towel under it and eat out of the popper. I only hope the new one holds up as long as the old one. It is marked made in the USA on the bottom, so bonus points for that.

I had mine for popcorn for a few years, and never used it. Try it for rice. The rice is never sticky, and you can get it more or less done just by adding more water and letting it steam. I've tried wild, white, and brown rice and they're all perfect, with no adjustment of water ratios or cooking times. Better than a rice cooker.

I really like the quality of this popper and the taste of the popped corn. The bowl is sturdy enough to use as a multipurpose bowl in my kitchen and it makes great popcorn. Since it needs no oil to cook, the popcorn is healthier. Many people have complained that the bowl stays hot after use. Yes, the bowl does stay hot but the base and rim cool immediately. By the time I add butter and salt the bowl is ready to eat out of. It cools faster than the pan I used to use on the stove.

Not what I expected. I have had a microwave popcorn popper for about 20 years, and it's on it's last leg. I was looking to replace it with this product. I was disappointed. This popper gets too hot and doesn't pop all the kernels, so you have to reheat it...which causes it to get even hotter.

I had one of these before and used it so much that it finally broke. This was exactly like the old one....it has great workmanship and holds up for years...plus makes great low fat popcorn.
